Our commitment

We are working to make this website easier for everyone to use. Our goal is to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These are widely used standards for making websites accessible to people with disabilities.

Accessibility is ongoing work, and some parts of the site may not be fully accessible yet. If you run into a page you cannot use, please tell us — we will help you get the information another way, and we will work to fix the page. Your feedback makes the site better for everyone.

Ask for help or report a problem

If any part of this website is hard to use, or you need information in another format, please contact us:

Please tell us the page or document you were trying to use and what you needed, so we can help right away.

Reasonable accommodations and modifications

If you have a disability, you have the right to ask us for a change that helps you apply for or live in your home. There are two kinds:

  • A reasonable accommodation is a change in a rule, policy, or service — for example, a first-floor unit, help filling out forms, or receiving notices in large print.
  • A reasonable modification is a physical change to your home or the community — for example, grab bars or a ramp.

Here is how the request works:

  1. Ask. Call, write, or come into the office. You can ask in any way that works for you. There is no special form you must use, though we can give you one if you prefer.
  2. Tell us what you need. You do not have to share your diagnosis. You only need to explain the change you are asking for and how it helps you use your home.
  3. We respond. We review each request individually and respond as promptly as we can. If we need more information, we will tell you what we need and why.

Asking for an accommodation or modification is free, and it will never count against your application. It is against the law for us to retaliate against you for asking. See our Fair Housing page for your rights.

Applying if you need assistance

You do not have to apply online. We offer other ways to get and complete an application:

  • In-office help. Come to the community office and a staff member will help you complete your application.
  • Large-print copies. We can provide the application in large print on request.
  • By phone. Call the office and we will walk you through the steps and arrange the paperwork.
  • Alternate formats. If you need the application or other materials in another accessible format, ask and we will do our best to provide it.

For our senior community

Indian Head Elderly Apartments is a community for applicants who are 62 or older, or who have a disability, regardless of age. We know that filling out forms online is not for everyone. Please do not let the paperwork stand in your way. Call us at (301) 375-7800 or stop by the office, and a real person will sit down and help you apply, at your pace. We are glad to help.

Physical accessibility at our communities

Accessible features vary by community and unit. If you need an accessible unit or have questions about a specific feature, please contact the community office and we will tell you what is available.
